Many casino games—particularly live casino games and card games—require some skills for them to be won over. However, one does not have to be a genius for this to be possible. In fact, all skill-based games are learnable and can be mastered without the need for a degree in Mathematics or strong academic genes. Substantial research, diligence, and hard work, however, are necessary.
While many casino games are often associated with gambling, mainly games of chance, skill-based games are generally regarded to be largely a test of the mind rather than something that poses high financial risk. After all, the word “skill” should have not been used if they solely rely on chance. Common games of skill include poker, blackjack, baccarat, arcade games, and even sports betting.
Poker. In online poker, strategies help players achieve the best prize relative to their bet. Here, a very good use of the mind is employed as players will be encouraged to make wise decisions and complete control over their hands, suits, and bets. Creating the most reasonable and practical tactics will result in excellent outcomes. Instincts are very helpful indeed, but in poker, learning the tricks of the trade is the main fuel to run the business.
Blackjack. In high-level blackjack, good analytical skills and strategy play a key role. Two pieces of information must be considered in this game: the strength of the dealer’s cards and then, the player’s. Here, it is not necessary to always come up with 21. Getting the nearest possible value is what matters more. Trying to beat the dealer by forcing a 21 will just lead to more busts and less wins.
Baccarat. In this game, neither the players nor the dealer have the control over the cards. The deck is shuffled and everything gets randomized. However, winning the game is all about strategy. The highest possible score is nine but it does not mean players always have to reach that value. Hands close to that number are good enough. If the hand scores less than six, a third card may be needed. Card counting can also help in this game to know which cards have already been dealt and which ones have yet to be opened.
Arcade games. These games, in a general sense, involve quick fingers and alert thinking. A set of sped-up puzzle games, arcade games is best reserved for players who are truly skilled in fast-paced ‘intelligent’ gaming.
Sports betting. While not considered as a game as a whole, sports betting requires some form of thinking and research. One cannot just easily bet on a player or team based on his instincts or baseless assumption. Indeed, the results are not guaranteed but if the punters have done enough research about the teams (their past few matches, record at home or away, star players, etc.) involved in a specific match, they would know which teams have the better potential at ending the battle victorious.
