In our fast-paced,Stan Adard’s Breathing Digital Paintings Help Create Spaces of Peace and Mindfulness Articles hectic world, the art of Stan Adard creates an oasis of peace and tranquility in any space. Deceptively static at first, after a few moments viewers realise that Adard’s digital paintings are in fact moving images. Upon even closer observation, it becomes apparent that the gently oscillating organic forms that Adard creates are breathing. These Breathing Digital Paintings, as Adard calls them, inspire people to breathe consciously, something Adard believes helps to unite the soul, spirit, and body. The breathing effect of his digital art is created through an algorithm that mimics human breathing patterns, something Adard developed specifically for this project. His goal is to create images that move, yet are timed to do so slowly and subtly enough that they do not come across as videos. “I always like to say that my creative tool is a 4-dimensional digital brush,” he says.

Adard currently lives in Switzerland, where he owns and manages several IT companies. Working on visual art has been his passion since the very first days of digital animation.

About the Exhibition

The Portal to Dreams

Portal to Dreams is a new group exhibition that offers alternative visions of reality expressed through abstraction, surrealism, and technical experimentation. This collection of artists features three painters of the human form: one who creates psychological studies using expressive brushstrokes, one who constructs bodies out of geometrical shapes and tempered colors, and one who paints modern narrative scenes containing bodies treated surrealistically. There is also an abstract oil painter who uses winding lines and textures to create intricate shapes. Finally, there is a digital artist whose richly colored patterns move very slowly in a new kind of genre. The pieces in Portal to Dreams are undeniably bold and forward-thinking.
