The last supper is one of the great creations of Leonardo Da Vinci (hereinafter referred to as Da Vinci),The last supper - the story behind the masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci Articles the fate of the painting was as miserable as the whole life of the painter. Anyone who sees the work will feel unspeakable grief because the masterpiece was suffered such a terrible loss due to time of corrosion and people’s barbarism.

“One of you will betray me…” When Jesus just finished these words, a doomed and cold breath attacked on the hearts of the people attending the dinner. A series of most complex feelings was reflected so profound and delicate in the history of painting the first time. Da Vinci broke all the secular traditions and norms. The screen was freed from the old formulaic atmosphere into the reproduction of real life. The skills of him made the saints as natural as though it were living. This is an extremely complex skill called proportion of shrinkage draw and he also made full use of the magic “contour fade law”, those were the light artistic techniques of Da Vinci.

Of course, there was inevitably some funny anecdotes spread out, Vasari once wrote something happened when Da Vinci created “The last supper”.

It was said that the abbot of the monastery requested Da Vinci to finish the work as soon as quickly firmly because he saw Da Vinci spent most of the days standing and thinking. He felt very weird, so he had an idea at heart, he wanted Da Vinci to work with his brush at hand every time as the people who did in the garden. More than that, he also chattered this idea to the Duke and made the Duke confused and impatient, so he had to send someone to got Da Vinci.  Da Vinci knew that the Duke was smart and miscellaneous. He also wanted to talk about the problems he thought with him. They had a long talk about art and he also explained to the Duke why high talented people worked less but effective. Because they used their wisdom to explore new paths, because they grasped wonderful ideas and then the wisdom dominated the hands to reflect and experience those wonderful ideas.

Da Vinci added later “I just have two heads unfinished, one is the head of Jesus, I don’t want to seek his model in this world and my thoughts have not reached high level so I can not create the extremely beautiful and elegant image that the embodiment of the god should have according to my own imagination. The other is the head of Judah. It also reminded me of numerous thoughts. Because I am unable to concoct the characteristics of a man who was so brutal and betrayed his master and creator even he received so much grace. I have to seek for this head carefully and if I can not find a perfect one at the last, I will use the head of the annoying host.”

These words drew the Duke laugh and said “Your thoughts are so strange”. The poor host was embarrassed and shattered. He went back to his garden and never disturbed Da Vinci any more. Finally the painter finished the head of Judah satisfactorily.  This funny story which was portrayed during the Renaissance was the easiest thing among the rough life of Da Vinci. The fate arranged a more grim experience for him.
