Various Best of the Roulette Game

Personally I am a big James Bond fan. I don’t know about you, but the image of him playing roulette will stay with me forever. He was all smooth and sophisticated and he would place a single number bet and win. The truth of the matter is that roulette is indeed a glamorous game. It is easy and fun to play, but do not expect to have the same luck as Mister Bond had.

The first game of roulette was created by the famous French mathematician Blaise Pascal in the 18th century. The game quickly caught on and by the 19th century it had already spread all over Europe. The game then spread in the US and eventually to the farthest corners of the world.

Nowadays roulette is a highly popular game. Proof are all the people that play roulette every day in land based and online casinos all over the world. As a matter of fact the roulette wheel is the international symbol for gambling.

Playing roulette is very straightforward. All you have to do is place a bet and wait for the outcome of the game. After all the people at the roulette table have finished making their bets the croupier will spin the ball. The outcome of your bet is determined by the number on which the ball will stop. Did you know that the term roulette is French in origin and it means “small wheel”?

The only thing that you may have some problems with is understanding all the various bets that you can place. There are two main types of bets: inside bets and outside bets.

The inside bets are made up of the following:

  • Straight number bet, which means that you have wagered on just one number. Your chances of winning are 37-to-1, and if you win you will receive a 35-to-1 payout.
  • Split bets, which means you have bet on two numbers. These are not any random numbers, but two neighboring numbers on the roulette table layout.
  • Street bets, which means that you have bet on 3 numbers. These three neighboring numbers are placed in a single, horizontal line on the table layout and are known as a street.
  • Corner bets, which means that you have bet on four numbers. These four neighboring numbers form a square on the table layout.
  • Sixline bets, which means that you have bet on two streets.

The outside bets are made up of the following:

  • Even money bets. These bets will payout at a ratio of 1-to-1, and include such bets as Black/Red, High/Low, Even/Odd. Thanks to their names, these bets are self-explanatory. If you make a Black bet for example, you bet that the winning number will be black.
  • Column bets, which means that you have bet in a column of numbers. A column is made up of 12 numbers. There are 3 columns on the roulette table layout, and all three are placed vertically on the layout.
  • Group bets. There are 36 numbers on the roulette wheel and they are split in to three groups. When you make a group bet it means that you have wagered on one of these groups.

These are all the various bets that you can make when playing roulette. As long as you understand how they work all that remains is for you to play and have great fun. Regardless if you play in a land based casino or in an online casinoFeature Articles, you are sure to have a thrilling and exciting gambling session.
