Lots of options for wedding venues are available for a bride and groom to choose from. Outdoor or indoor weddings, formal or casual, homespun or elegant – all of these alternatives can create the perfect backdrop for this special event. Budget is something that must be thought about. This includes the wallet of the person picking up the tab as well as those attending. If a Hawaiian beach wedding has been a long held dream of the happy couple, they will have to take into consideration the fact that attendees from the mainland will have to spring for airfare and hotel so might not be able to afford it. There are lots of things to think about when deciding upon wedding venues.

- Outdoor weddings: There are many gorgeous natural settings in which to hold a tying-of-the-knot. A beach can make a lovely and romantic setting. So can a lovely park or even someone’s garden. Some restaurants have space in their adjoining herb, flower and vegetable gardens for a romantic ceremony and party. How fun to celebrate marriage in a lush and plant growing environment? Some offbeat outdoor spots can be chosen, too. A zoo, water park or favorite picnic spot in the mountains can create a memorable backdrop for a party.

- Formal: Elegant hotels and restaurants can be a nice venue for weddings and receptions. Luxurious chandeliers, carpeting, artwork, fine china and real silverware can all equate to formal elegance for the festivities. It’s important to note the rooms’ ambience and colors when planning the event. If the décor is in a color that clashes with the bridesmaids’ gowns, this will be result in an unsightly combination.

- Casual: The event can be a casual gala complete with heavy appetizers instead of a formal sit down dinner affair. Beer and soft drinks in ice chests can be available rather than cocktails mixed by a tuxedoed bartender. There can be a serve-yourself buffet rather than seat assignments and a wait staff. There can be rock-n-roll and barefoot dancing instead of the foxtrot and waltz in patent leather shoes.

- Homespun: Some people decide to get hitched and then party down afterward in their own backyard. If not their own yard, that of their friend or relative will work. This can be a budget option as informal as a backyard potluck BBQ or it can still be a formal affair with a hired string quartet, formally dressed caterers and rented tables adorned to the nines with linen tablecloths. Garlands of twinkly white fairy lights can add romantic flair in the front and back yards.

- Number of guests: It’s always important to decide upon the guest list before deciding upon the location. Let’s face it; two-hundred guests won’t be able to fit into the average house even if it’s a McMansion. Parking will be an issue, as well. Once the number of guests is settled on, choosing a place that will accommodate the crowd will follow suit.

There are lots of potential wedding venues out there. After researching the options and taking tours of the possible sites, a bride and groom will find the right one for their celebration.
