The annual Gathering of the Juggalos returns to Cave-in-Rock,Who Is Going to the Gathering of Juggalos 2011? Articles Ill. for another four-day event this year from August 10 to 14. Even if you don't necessarily count yourself among the juggalos -- huge fans of the Insane Clown Posse and related artists -- the Gathering is a must if you like underground rap or underground rock.
Juggalos are an accepting bunch, anyway, and thousands of juggalos from around the world attend. You'll come away with new friends and a new appreciation for your favorite underground rap and underground rock artists.
On the underground rap side, many artists tend towards the horror rap and horrorcore genres. Of course, as it's Insane Clown Posse's festival, this legendary underground rap group headlines multiple nights.
They've handpicked other similar underground rap artists who appeal to juggalos, like Twiztid, ABK, Boondox, and Dark Lotus. Interestingly, the lineup also includes many top stars who have climbed out of the underground rap ranks into superstardom: Lil Jon, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, and even Flavor Flav!
Besides the underground rap stars, the Gathering of the Juggalos also features plenty of underground rock. It's not the supposed "underground rock" tending towards indie that appears on most summer music festivals, though.
Juggalos love bands too, but many of them lean towards harder sounds. Some of the juggalos' favorites from the underground rock scene return this year, like Kottonmouth Kings. However, a number of other underground rock acts performing straddle fan bases, like Kittie, Saliva, and CKY, or Camp Kill Yourself. Even more underground rock acts are being announced.
That's not all. The Gathering of the Juggalos offers much more than just music. The 24-hour-a-day party includes pro wrestling and comedy, as well, as a large part of the entertainment. Among the top wrestling stars scheduled to appear are familiar names like Chyna, Raven, and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, as well as Juggalo Wrestling stars like Necro Butcher and Raven.
Comedians also perform throughout the festival. This year, the lineup includes Harlan Williams, Brian Posehn, and even Charlie Sheen -- if you want to consider him a comedian, currently!
Beyond that, there are other unusual music festival activities like carnival rides, helicopter rides, and even women's mud wrestling and soda-soaked wet T-shirt contests. Think Burning Man meets Woodstock meets Coachella, with an underground rap and underground rock spin. But nothing really compares! Find out more at juggalogathering.com.
