Let's face it,Garage Kits Can be Built by Almost Anyone Articles not all men are cut out to be true do-it-yourselfers, just like all men aren't cut out to be salesmen or cowboys or doctors. Nope, we are not all created equal, not when it comes to doing projects around the house, or to putting up kit buildings. But, having said that, I am here to say that most garage kits are very doable by nearly anyone with some common sense and some common tools. I say "nearly" because there are obviously some people who shouldn't even think about attempting it. Chances are, you know if this is you or not, and it isn't my job to make you feel bad or inadequate. If you know you can't follow instructions, or can't conceptualize what to do from a given set of instructions, or have no idea how to use basic tools, then more power to you. Hopefully, you have the resources to hire the job out. Having said that, I want to talk a little bit about garage kits and the process for building them.

Like men, garage kits are not all created equal either. Some companies that manufacture these things shouldn't be in the business at all. Parts that don't fit, inferior materials, impossible to follow instructions, overpricing, and lousy customer service all disqualify them from getting a good recommendation from me and others.
Thankfully, these are few and far between and the market insures that bonehead companies don't last for very long.

One of the companies on the short list of companies that I can highly recommend is  VersaTube. This company knows what they are doing, and have been doing it for a very long time. They make garage kits that are masterfully engineered, swaged to fit properly, come with some nice window and door options, and are backed up by world class customer service.

So let's say you are somebody who can generally do things on their own. You understand basic building concepts and know how to use some basic tools. You order one of VersaTube prefabricated garage kits and await the eventful day when it is delivered to your house. The truck pulls up and unloads your new garage kit. The driver pulls away and you are now doing the gut check that every DIY dude goes through. You start saying things to yourself like, "I'm excited", or "I can do this". These little pep talks are a good idea when getting ready to tackle a major project. After you get through this you move on to the doing.

All the pieces are there, you start to lay them out, and the pieces actually line up. You know that all garage kits are not equal, so you take pride in your decision to buy from a good company. As your new garage kit comes together and starts to take form you stand just a little taller, you feel a little more powerful and you don't hesitate to tell your dumbfounded neighbor who wants to know if he could build one, "Oh yeah, it's easy, you can do it too."

Garage kits are not going to construct themselves, but if you are a reasonably experienced person who has the desire to build their own structure then you will be successful. Have no fear. Move forward boldly and go where almost anyone can go.
