Creating home filing systems that works for your supplies will take time and patience,  but this is true for all aspects of our life we choose to organize.  You will save time and money once you get organized.  You won’t waste your time searching when you know where everything is.  You are also going to spend less money when you get organized.  This is because you won’t buy duplicate supplies or tools because you couldn’t find what you needed or because you just forgot you had already bought it!

Paper, paper, and even more paper!  12 X 12 storage is required for a lot of your scrapbook paper.   What does this mean?  Your typical file cabinet probably isn’t your solution.  A unique, attractive storage idea for your space is a wicker basket or a metal tote that is big enough to fit a 12 x 12 hanging folder frame.  You can create your home filing system with this special size hanging folder frame.  Find these frames with retailers selling scrapbook supplies.  Use these folders to file your paper based on topics like color or theme.

Do you not have much space? Do you move your supplies frequently?  An expandable folder for your paper storage could be your answer.  An accordion folder can help organize up to 500 sheets of paper.  You can easily take the folder with you if you want to scrapbook elsewhere.

Scrapbooking stackable trays are a great way to sort and store your papers on a desk or work top.  See through trays will allow you to see at a quick glance the different style papers you have available.   You can modify your stack height to the different style of papers you want easily available.  A rolling tray added to the bottom of your stackable trays can turn them quickly into a stack easily moved around the top of your work surfaces.

No dedicated work space means you have to store your supplies in a tucked away location?  Make some room in a closet.  Vertical space being used effectively can help you get maximize your storage space.  Get organized by stealing a mere foot of linear space in a closet.  Choose a canvas shelf organizer to hang from your clothes rod.  Use this shelf organizer to sort papers.  With only giving up a foot of closet space you can gain six linear feet of organizing space.

Three ring binders are very helpful!  Home filing systems can use three ring binders in multiple ways.  Stencils can be stored in them.  File two stencils per sleeve with a sheet of paper in between them.  It will be easier to see the separate stencil designs with the paper between them.  It will also stop them from catching on each other when you need to take one out.

Ideas for future projects can find a home in a three ring binder.  Store your ideas by creating pages showing color combinations you want to try, or new layout ideas.  If you receive scrapbooking magazines rip out articles with tips and ideas you want to save.  They can be easily stored in a binder to make them fast to find.

Put your things away!  Using your scrapbooking home filing systems is the only way to make them a success!  A clean and organized space will make you happier and more creative.  Make more time for your hobby by getting your tools and supplies organized!
