Some products even go so far as to blatantly advertise themselves as the single most important vehicle in the search for girlfriends. Whether having a girlfriend in today\'s metrosexual lifestyle is as important as it was in the \'80s and \'90s is not clear, but it is proven that when a person does have a girlfriend, the condition has a psychological effect. This is because, depending on the compatibility of the two, a girlfriend may eventually become a wife.

A girlfriend can have a positive or negative effect on one\'s social life. Some girlfriends are supportive and adaptive to the various ups and downs in the lives of their boyfriends, whereas some girlfriends can levy a stultifying effect on their boyfriends\' lives.
