As soon as you become pregnant is when you need to spring into action. Contact your health provider as soon as you get the word and make sure you are covered by insurance in every imaginable situation. If you are lacking in any possible coverage, call the Medicare office right away.

Make sure you are doing the best things possible to take care of yourself during what will be a stressful time. Make sure you are never hungry and drink plenty of water because you are now eating for two, maybe more in some situations. You will need much more nutrition that normal and making sure you have the right amount of calories and water is vital to the health of your baby who can't fend for his or herself quite yet.

Also get some sleep because you and your baby are likely to be exhausted most of the time during your pregnancy. Make sure you get plenty of exercise because you are not just doing it for yourself but for your baby as well.

Needless to say, there are certain things that are absolutely taboo, including smoking drugs, alcohol or driving without a seat belt before and after pregnancy. All it takes is a little bit of common sense and nine months to prepare for the biggest day of your life.
