Auto Insurance Coverage Types

Auto Insurance coverage is mainly of two types, i.e. collision coverage and comprehension coverage. Usually people confuse between the both. When you avail for collision coverage for your policy,

Then the insurance company pays you for the accidental losses or the replacement and repairing value of the vehicle. This policy is independent of the fact that who was at the fault for the damage. For an instance, suppose a driver had an accident and had purchased the collision coverage insurance policy will be paid for all the damages. It is irrespective of the fact that whether the car had hit a vehicle or a simple light post.

In the collision coverage, the company has full right increase their premium if the driver is at fault accident and is viewed as a higher risk. The increased amount of premium would definitely reduce the driver’s carelessness and irresponsibility during driving that might have the reason for accidents in the past. The state laws do not require the drivers to bear collision coverage. While on the other hand, other institutions that lend money for the vehicles requires the driver to purchase the collision coverage. Hence, in this way, the value of loan is protected in the event of a mishap.

Collision coverage can be an expensive issue. This can be reduced in many ways. First, one can increase the deductible amount to save money. But for this companies usually offer lower collision rates if one increases the deductible and the insurance company will pay less. Another way of saving money is that if the car is old and in poor conditions, one may skip collision coverage in all.

The second type on Auto Insurance Coverage i.e. comprehension coverage is used when a vehicle is stolen or in case of vehicular collision. Many factors like damages caused due to flood, fallen tree, fire, or an animal are included in this case. All the natural disasters like tornado, wildfire, on hurricane are also included in it.

Similarly as in the case of collision coverage, comprehension coverage also has the deductible. The lenders may require the deductible. It only covers up the total cost of the repairing and damaging of the vehicle. This auto insurance policy is independent of the driver and hence the rates of premium do not fluctuate rather remain at the constant value.
Both collision and comprehension coverage are important for auto policy.
