Buying a car does end the responsibilities of that person towards his driving. To save his car from any damage from an accident or theft, vandalism, fire etc he has to go for one or the other type of auto insurance. When a person buys an auto insurance plan, he has to pay an auto insurance premium on a monthly basis which adds to the cost of the auto insurance plan which has to be paid to the insurance company. Also, the buyer pays a deductible amount to the insurance provider as lump sum money in the starting so ensure that he is going to keep the policy for a long time. The higher is the amount of the deductible, the more discount will the buyer get on the rate of the premium to be paid on the auto insurance.

The buyer should only select that coverage in his auto insurance which he thinks is important for him and his vehicle in the case of an accident. For example, if he thinks the area in which he parks his car is not safe and it would get stolen easily, then only he should coverage for theft and vandalism.
