The Basic Health Insurance Plan

A basic health insurance policy provides insurance against medical expenses that are outcome of sickness & accident. This is a novice term that refers to various surgical, medical & hospital benefits. The broad category of medical cover provides an extensive range of benefits for medical hospital & surgical care.

Plans may be tailored in such way that they may be bounded to cover only one or two types of expenses like surgical expenses or hospital or miscellaneous medical costs. These types of plans are known as basic plans.

Other, more extensively written, plans may cover all the expenses resulting from illness or accident using some specific exceptions. Health insurance plans include fee-for-service where doctors and other medical attendant’s receive a payment for their services provided not exceeding their bill amount. Prepaid policies provide hospital or medical benefits in the form of service rather than money. Many things should be kept in mind when selecting a health insurance plan such as:

A limited number of provider’s v/s any provider.-Are you compelled to choose from a specific list of providers or anyone of your choice?

Regional operation v/s National.-Is the plan operates nationwide or limited to a geographical region?
Subscribers v/s Insured: - Are subscribers (the person who is paying the premium) considered insured or participants considered insured?

We will take a look at the limited coverage for medical, hospital, and surgical expenses.
