Are You Missing The Point About Owning A Treadmill?

On the surface, exercising on a treadmill is limited in the number of ways you can use it. Unlike so many other fitness equipment products, the treadmill leaves you with 2 choices: run or walk.  Should that discount its effectiveness? Take a look around your local gym. You'll find treadmills and long lines to get to them, and for good reason: whether you choose to walk or run, they will help you lose weight.

There are two basic possibilities for exercising on a treadmill, which are to walk on it or to run or jog on it.  Some will say that it is only truly beneficial if one runs or jogs on the treadmill, but this is simply not true, as in regards to what the benefit of treadmill exercise is, the answer is many things, and this refers to both running and walking on the treadmill.

When you choose to use a treadmill, no matter what method you use, all that really matters is that you will burn calories. Running and jogging on a treadmill burns more calories faster, however you can achieve the same results with walking, however it will take a little longer and in the end, that is what really matters. In some cases, walking is recommended instead of running or jogging.

Walking on a treadmill is not different than walking to the store. However, there are certain advantages to walking on a treadmill such controlling the speed, of the treadmill, and perhaps the most important aspect is that the walking conditions are smooth and consistent.

Exercise is recommended as part of a healthy lifestyle. However it can be strenuous. Walking is a low impact exercise and can be done by those who even have limited mobility because there are side rails to hold on to. Using a treadmill is also a good form of exercise for pregnant women because they can set their own pace and still stay in shape.

Running is, quite obviously and admittedly, a terrific form of exercise.  The benefit of treadmill exercise at a running pace can be clearly seen when comparing calories burned per hour of activity, as running is said to burn about 700 calories per hour whereas biking is said to only burn about 500 calories per hour.

Another benefit to treadmill exercising is that the treadmills themselves come in all sizes. There are many different options that come standard with the treadmill such as meters to measure your heart rate, counters that tell you exactly how many steps you have walked, total amount of calories burned during your workout, and even how fast you walk or run.
