Stretching is an important but often overlooked part of any workout regimen. This article examines why the stretching routine in Power Half Hour is important in the larger context of the workout
When I last did P90X, I noticed something peculiar. There was both a power yoga program and a stretching routine that were totally separate from each other.
I have done P90X about a half-dozen times now. It’s a great workout because there is always room to grow and improve from session to session.
The stretching routine is like nothing I have seen either. It’s a full hour and it unquestionably had great impact on my results. The first time I did P90X, I skipped it most, if not all the time.
One of the criticisms of P90X is if you do all the workouts and the stretching routine, you get no days off. So the first thing to go might be that stretching routine. By sticking it at the end of a hard week of 6 intense workouts of an hour or more apiece, you are prone to making it optional.
When I did that my first time through P90X, I knew I had made a mistake. I was sore more often, my performance did not improve like I hoped and I didn’t feel as good throughout the process of getting fitter.
With Power Half Hour, stretching takes on a slightly different plan of attack in the larger program. Power Half Hour is also from the Beach Body team.
Like P90X, Tony Horton is your guy in charge of both creation and training on the videos. Power Half Hour attacks three trouble areas of the body in the form of a 30 minute workout 5 days a week.
Power Stretch is both a stretching routine but with a slight yoga approach. So you work and stretch in a 30 minute workout without totally realizing which it is you are doing.
The point is that you feel great, refreshed and your body is perfectly set up for greater gains as you move forward with Power Half Hour.
I believe that Power Stretch and the way it is scheduled, is an area where Power Half Hour gets it more right than it’s famous cousin P90X. Power stretch is both a 30 minute workout and a conduit to essential improvements for the whole Power Half Hour program.
There is no temptation to skip, because rest is built in to the schedule. Plus being a 30 minute workout commitment seems like the perfect amount of time.
I describe a great professionally instructed stretch workout as the fountain of youth. I think you may agree when you conclude Power Stretch.Maximizing Your GSP RushFit Workout Results: A Comprehensive Guide
