The Digestive System and Colon Cleansing

Rashes and other skin irritations may be caused by your body's internal functions not performing in tip top working order. Learn how to make things right.

Many claims for colon cleansing products are justified for some products. There are few products however that can meet all of the claims, from looking skinnier to living longer.

What you don't see in the advertisements for colon cleansing products is an explanation of what the colon does and why it should be cleansed, so here's an overview of the human digestive system.

After you eat food, it passes to the pharynx, a tube right behind your mouth, and down the esophagus, a long tube connecting the pharynx to the stomach. Once the food is in the stomach, it is attacked by digestive enzymes. They break down food into basic nutrients. Also, the stomach is filled with gastric acid which kills some of the microorganisms that are in the food.

Next, the food is passed to the small intestine. Here, the food is further broken down and the nutrients are absorbed through the intestinal wall and transported throughout the body in the bloodstream. Then it is the turn of the large intestine, and this the section of which the colon is a part. In the colon, water and salt that was used to break down the food is extracted.

The human body is very efficient and doesn't like to waste anything.

After the colon, the waste from the food is sent to the rectum and then out of the body.

Now, here's where colon cleansing comes into play. All of the parasites and micro-organisms that were in the food, and which survived the gastric acid in the stomach, end up in the colon. The time it takes for waste to enter the colon and then exit the body is more than enough time for these parasites to attach themselves to the walls of the colon and settle in.

Doesn't sound too good, right?

Worse, these parasites generally live off of materials that the human body doesn't use, so every time you digest food, the materials meant for disposal are sent directly to the parasites. Basically they have a comfortable home and are fed as much nutrition as they want.

What can you do to get rid of such parasites? Well, one way is to stop eating altogether, but that's not really an option.

So, next up is to use a colon cleansing product. These products are made with ingredients that pass through the digestive system with no damage to youFind Article, but are deadly to the parasites living in your colon.
