How to get in shape. It's a very common question but more often than not it's an incomplete question. It's more typically asked with conditions.

What is a quick way to get in shape and can still be easy? This is often the magic pill seeker.

Or another common question:  How long does it take to get in shape?

The good news here is that there are relatively fast ways to get in shape. And there are so many different approaches. This can be both good and bad as often,Your Get in Shape Program Begins With Your Why Articles people are overwhelmed with information and marketing all describing the "best way to get in shape fast".

The better question to ask yourself is: Why do want to get in shape?

Without a big enough why, you'll find it very difficult to stick with any diet or exercise program you begin. Getting in shape is more of an internal process than it is an external one.

Yes, getting in shape is about looking better but more importantly, feeling better.  Looking better is just a benefit that comes with it. But more importantly, if you've let yourself fall out of shape, getting back in shape is about a change of lifestyle.

You must be prepared to make daily changes. But you don't have to do them all at once. You can make little changes each day. People are often hesitant to start a diet because they think they'll be starving all the time. Or, they think getting in shape is tough (and the food usually tastes bad).

In fact, both of these assumptions couldn't be more wrong. One of the true "secrets to good health and body composition is to eat more not less. This revs up your metabolism and increase the natural fat burning process. The key is making changes to what your eating.

And, as you make changes to your diet, you'll find that natural, unprocessed food will taste better to you. This becomes a cycle of reinforcement. You feel better, and you want to continue to feel better. The increased energy becomes addictive. And, you'll find it easier to make better choices about the food you're eating.

If you were to hire a nutritionist to help you lose weight or put on muscle or both, you'd get a meal plan that most people would find challenging. But the challenge would be getting in all the meals and water on your plan.

Getting in shape is one thing but to maintain your condition and sense of well being you have to consistently apply your lifestyle changes until they become habits.

But if the transition to an active lifestyle is  approached intelligently, the chances of you sticking to your routine and getting in shape is likely to be very high.  For most of us, the simple reality of getting in shape is a bit of sweat, a bit of discomfort, a bit of tiredness, a bit of inconvenience. But the rewards are so well worth it.

Just like anything else in life... if it were easy, everyone would do it. Make a decision, make a commitment to your "why" and get started. Often, that's the hardest part.
