Welcome back loyal followers! At this point you have all read along and followed along as we discuss all the different things we look for during our search for the Best Boston Restaurant. This long and strenuous search has brought us to many topics,Choosing the Best Boston Restaurant Part 7 Articles including: a restaurant’s name, the host, the décor, musical environment, the drink menu, and appetizers as well. By this point, you have hopefully learned that making your way through the many restaurants that Boston has to offer is always an adrenaline rush. This week we will be discussing a course that many people take for granted and others, like me, tend to skip entirely. Have you guessed it yet? Obviously I am talking about salads!

A salad course is important for many different reasons. It prepares your stomach for the next course by stretching it with all those healthy vitamins and minerals. A good salad consists of a mixture of greens. This can include arugula, mixed greens, winter greens, and even iceberg lettuce. Other vegetables, including but not limited to, tomatoes, carrots, onions, radishes, and peppers, often accompany these different combinations of lettuce. Some salads like to incorporate fruits into the mixture. The most common ones that I have seen used are strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, pears, and oranges.

According to many salad enthusiasts, even at the Best Boston Restaurant there are two main ingredients that make or break a salad course. The first is the cheese selection. While the base of the salad is greens and vegetables or fruits, the cheese will ultimately tie all of the flavors together. For example a pear salad sounds appetizing, but nothing extraordinary. A Brie and Pear salad on the other hand entices your taste buds and makes a salad course an experience and not just another part of your meal.

The second and last ingredient that is key to a good salad is of course the dressing that will top off that delicious creation. The classic dressings include Caesar, balsamic vinaigrette, Italian, creamy Italian, Greek, ranch, and bleu cheese. While they all have unique tastes, some are more associated with certain salads. For example a Cobb salad is known to be dressed with bleu cheese dressing while a Caesar salad is dressed with Caesar dressing. Choosing this final touch is what ultimately decides the flavor experience you will have because after all, a salad without dressing is nothing but rabbit food!

Well foodies, I bet you didn’t realize how meaningful that salad course really is. Next time your waitress asks you if you would like a salad with your meal, take the time to think about it and ask her what they have to offer. Who knows, you may develop a love for tasty greens topped with creamy dressings and crispy croutons. Who knew finding the Best Boston Restaurant would mean trying new foods. As always fellow adventurers, keep your eye out for that little restaurant that ordinary people overlook, it could be the source of an unforgettable meal!
