French gastronomy blended with the use of local ingredients and marked the birth of Creole food in New Orleans as we know it today. One of the most famous New Orleans dishes, Oysters Rockefeller, was created by Antoine himself and lives on today as an internationally known dish representing the city from which it came.Commander's PalaceWhat Antoine's was to the Creoles is what Commander's Palace was to Anglo-Saxons that flocked to New Orleans in the early 1900s. Located in the beautiful Garden District neighborhood, it became the gold standard for food in New Orleans. This restaurant adapts and evolves and is yet somehow remains traditionally elegant. The cuisine is both modern and traditional, adding new twists to old dishes, and some traditional dishes as well.
