If you are an avid coffee drinker,What Makes Arabica Beans so Popular? Articles then you have likely heard plenty of good things about Arabica beans.  What you may not have heard though is exactly why they are so popular.  What makes them so much better than their Robusta counterparts?

The main reason why people prefer Arabica coffee beans is because they produce the best-tasting coffee.  Most of the gourmet coffee produced around the world makes use of these beans.  They taste and smell very differently than Robusta beans although different varieties do have different smells and tastes.

Arabica beans have to be grown in certain conditions.  They are usually grown in the mountains at higher elevations.  These conditions ensure the beans grow slowly, developing a deep flavor and nice aroma.

They can be grown all over the world, although volcanic mountain soil is the best environment for them.  The only state in America which currently produces Arabica beans is Hawaii.  Some of the countries that are well-known for their production of the beans include Kenya, Columbia, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

Robusta beans are capable of growing in many more places.  They grow much more quickly too.  Since Arabica beans are pretty difficult to cultivate properly and also require twice as much time to grow, they are more expensive than Robusta beans.  The plantations producing the beans also have to be very large.  A single tree will only produce one pound of coffee per year.

Cafes that serve coffee usually use Arabica beans to make their products.  You can also find them in the grocery store.  However, the beans found in the grocery store are typically blended with Robusta beans in order to make a blend.  The addition of the Arabica beans will give the blend a better taste and more body, but nothing beats coffee made from just Arabica.

You will also notice there is a difference in regards to caffeine levels when it comes to Arabica and Robusta beans.  The latter has much higher levels of caffeine, so you will get a bigger boost after drinking coffee made from Robusta beans.  It still will not have the great taste of Arabica though.

Coffee drinkers all over the world have long been told that Arabica beans are the best to use to make coffee.  The increased price is usually well-worth it since you will be rewarded with a cup of coffee with great taste and body.
