Where to live in Austin TX for health nuts really translates into which places have the healthiest restaurants?..

Where to live in Austin TX for health nuts really translates into which places have the healthiest restaurants?  Yes,Where To Live In Austin TX For Health Nuts Articles it’s important to stay active and it’s nice to be as close to hike and bike trails but it’s not the end-all, especially since gyms can be found throughout Austin.  You’re going to make the trip to do something active (you’re already in the active mindset) but will you always want to make the trip every time you want to eat?  Wouldn’t it be nice if the closest restaurants were healthy restaurants so the temptation for fast food might subside a little?  If you set up shop next to a fast food joint, chances are you’ll give in more than if you lived near a bunch of healthy establishments.  A few areas of Austin are reviewed and my favorite healthy restaurant in each area is discussed.

Where To Live In Austin TX For Health Nuts – Soco

Soco or South Congress is the preferable spot for health nuts.  Independent (non-chain) establishments are everywhere and you are right around the corner from Barton Creek Greenbelt hiking and biking trails as well as Zilker Park.  My favorite is Casa de Luz, a vegetarian restaurant with all you can eat/drink cold/hot tea and salad.  Their soup and tacos with roasted mushrooms, onions, zucchini, etc. are amazing.  There is no added sugar or salt in any of their meals.  Other places to check out are Mr. Natural, Mister Fruitcup, and New India Cuisine.

Where To Live In Austin TX For Health Nuts – Downtown

Downtown Austin is so densely populated that you have a little bit of everything – fast food, healthy food, and everything in between.  My favorite here is Koriente.  It’s an Asian Fusion restaurant where you can get amazing noodle dishes with mahi mahi, avocado, japchei, rice cakes, and the bubble tea is awesome.  It’s vegetarian friendly but pleases the carnivores as well.  The runner up is Whole Foods, a market with a dining area upstairs where you can get just about anything fresh.

Where To Live In Austin TX For Health Nuts – North Austin

Arpeggio off of Airport Blvd might be my most frequently visited healthy restaurant.  Its dishes consist of humus, warm pita with tzatziki sauce, falafel, gyros, kebabs, and lamb shank.  This will please both vegetarians and carnivores alike.  The atmosphere is very awesome and immediately gives you that relaxed Mediterranean vibe.  The runner up is Verts, a Turkish restaurant where everything is always fresh.  Do give it a try and ask for the Berlin-inspired Kebab.

These are my recommendations but there are plenty of other hidden gems throughout Austin.  Yelp away!
