Most often, all type of pests and bugs would get in houses in search of food. As animals and pests have strong smelling sense, they get attracted to any left over food, dirty places, clothes or dishes etc.

It can be a real challenge sometimes to keep pests and bugs out of your home. But all you need to do is to follow some simple steps to prevent these unwanted guests out of your house. 1. Keep Closet Pest Free

And before putting used summer dresses or winters coats and warm clothes back in closet, better get them washed or dry cleaned, to keep your Closet free from an infestation.

2. Keep Kitchen Clean

It’s a good idea to make a specific place for eating, in Kitchen or dining room. The fewer places that are exposed to left over food, the less it would attract bugs. After eating your meal, dishes should be washed as soon as possible. The unwashed dishes, even soaking ones, can attract bugs. After washing dishes, the sink should be wiped down and remember to keep the drains clean, clear and working properly.

Leaky sinks or drains can be a inviting home for pests. Kitchen floor should be cleaned on daily basis. Crumbs and Spills need to be cleaned quickly. Even missing a day can be an open invitation for Bugs. Just as messy floor can attract the pests; spilled areas in your kitchen can also give invitation to bugs. If there is a spill on kitchen floor, be sure to move appliances and furniture so all the spill can be cleaned easily and completely.

3. Pantry

Keep an eye on Fruits and Vegetables in your pantry. If not used or thrown on their prime time, ripe fruits and vegetables would attract all type of bugs and pests immensely.  Frequently used items such as pastas, cereal and pet foods should be kept in completely sealable containers. imilarly, dry food items like flours, sugar etc. should be kept in airtight containers. Sealed and airtight containers are the only places pests can’t get in to enjoy your Food. Jars and bottles should be wiped down outside the bottle and lid after being used.

Garbage is like heaven to pests and bugs. Be sure to keep your trash cans clean. Wash down the trash cans and keep recycling the containers. Rinse out glass, plastic and metal containers that you use for recycling. Be sure to keep lids on your trash cans. They keep smell in and bugs out.

5. Keep Your Outside Areas Clean

That’s the place Bugs enter in your house. Trees, Bushes and shrubs that are in touch with the walls of your house can be the entry points of Bugs. Be sure to prune them. Be sure to fill up any holes in your garden or outside area, where rain water can be filled up. Such holes with filled up waters, even birdbaths can be breeding place for pests. Pests like to live in woods, including firewood, so don’t put them inside house or garage. Try to keep room for air to pass through the stake.
