How to create an oasis in your own backyard.

It is June,Inviting Backyard Articles and the official start of summer is right around the corner. Have you noticed all the flowers blooming and wishing you had some sort of backyard hide-away to escape to? If you are like most people, then your life is full of busy schedules, running around and not nearly enough leisure time. Having an inviting oasis in your backyard can provide a wonderful way to squeeze in some peaceful relaxation after a long day of working. Creating a welcoming space need not take a total overhaul of your yard. Adding just a couple of touches can transform your landscape into a place to unwind, be it some extra landscaping, maybe some strategically placed trees or bushes, an added hardscape or maybe a trellis.

A trellis is an effective means for adding style to your yard. This outdoor garden structure can be equally successful in transforming a dull or bare section of the yard into something significantly more beautiful. The arched shape of a trellis is perfect for creating a dramatic garden entrance. Plant climbing plants on both sides of the trellis and across the top can be grown a lush roof of red roses.  Climbing roses, grapes and morning glories make good flowering trellis vines. Whatever your choice, a trellis can add style and grace to just about any backyard space.

An artfully designed trellis can serve as garden sculpture, too. Use it to accent an outdoor seating area. It can add a touch of elegance that will make you enjoy sitting in your backyard all the more. There are many styles to choose from, whether you prefer the simple straight lines of an Asian profile trellis or a knobby and rustic one crafted from old grape vines. Choose the type of trellis that matches the personality of your yard.

In addition to a trellis, creating a backyard garden path is a wonderful addition to any garden. Are you looking for beauty, relaxation or both? Well, it is easy to make an informal path amid planting beds or woodland by clearing an area of your yard and putting down a layer of mulch, pine needles, flat rocks, pavers or loose stone. This kind of casual paving blends into the surroundings, providing just enough definition to show off the plant material on either side and make the path flow. Strolling through your garden after a busy day is a great way to de-stress. Enjoy your backyard this summer with your own little oasis!
