Abdominoplasty for Mommy

Who needs an abdominoplasty more than a mommy? Here’s some food for thought.
It seems that the abdominoplasty may have been invented with mommies in mind. Let’s face it; the way that a woman brings a baby into the world is by providing it with a temporary hotel room

During pregnancy, the embryo morphs in size from a speck to a seven or eight pound package. That’s a lot of stretching to ask for from belly skin, abdominal muscles and tissue. Another of nature’s maternal insurance protection policies is the padding on of layers of fat in the belly and hip regions. This is Mother Nature’s way of insuring that the infant and new mom will have plenty of reserves to draw from to keep them both nourished through the course of lactation and nursing the child. So at the end of the year or two of a cycle of childbearing, there may be a robust toddler or two ambling around and a mommy whose body is wearing the battle scars. Moms often end up with flabby tummies, padding that didn’t go away during the nursing process and flat emptied out breasts. What’s a mother to do? A consultation with the local plastic surgeon is one answer.
An abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure performed by a reputable cosmetic surgeon. The doctor removes redundant skin in the belly region and tightens up what is left. This operation is also referred to as a tummy tuck. The incision in a tummy tuck is positioned at the top of the pubic hair line so that scars are hidden below the panty line. This method allows a woman to wear her bikini without noticeable scarring. The fascia and inner girdle of connective tissue will be tightened, as well. The inner girdle region will not be able to snugly hold the internal organs in place if it’s all stretched out. This operation takes approximately three or four hours to perform and will be done under general anesthesia in a hospital or clinical setting. Surgical drains will be placed in order to get rid of excess fluids. A compression garment or abdominal binder will need to be worn for six weeks, as well.
For mommy’s makeoverFeature Articles, an abdominoplasty will tighten up her belly in order to give her back her flat stomach. She might also want to consider a breast lift and liposuction to perk up the rest of her appearance as well. Mommies gave us life; the least we can do is give them a bit of cosmetic surgery.
