Acne Treatments: Possibilities Are Numerous

Acne affected people are trying out several creams and face packs to get rid of these problems but are unable to fight them effectively and rapidly. Even if some formulas work, they might cause severe allergic reactions. Why not go for natural formula to cure acne?

Amongst the most common skin problems faced by people around their teenage is acne. The commonness of this situation can be known from the fact that almost about 96% of teenagers and one third of all adults suffer from it. Acne occur in the form of scaly red skin, blackheads or whiteheads, commonly known as comedones, papules or pinheads, pustules or pimples, nodules or large papules and sometimes scars. It can lead to embarrassment, humiliation, low self esteem and low confidence and increased stress levels. Acne is mostly found to occur on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.

Causes of acne
There are many known causes of acne. One of them is hormonal imbalance. During teenage years or during pregnancy, there is an active changing process that take place in the hormones which causes acne. The increase in the testosterone levels can also trigger acne outbreaks. This increase in testosterone levels occur usually during puberty or in people who have a higher sexual drive. The phenomenon of acne outbreak starts with the sebaceous glands which produce oil which is a nutrient for the skin and hair. Excessive amounts of oil produced by these glands stick to the dead cells and block the pores beneath the surface of the skin. This creates a lack of oxygen inside the pores where bacteria takes birth. This results in acne. Apart from the hormonal causes, genetic causes are also responsible for acne and excessive usage of oil-based skin care products, stress, physical irritation and pollution may also cause acne.

Types of acne
Dermatologists have classified acne into four grades.

  • Grade 1 includes acne that is mild, usually characterised by a very small number of pimples that occur occasionally.
  • Grade 2 acne is termed as moderate acne determined by the appearance of blackheads and papules in greater numbers and occurs in higher frequency, causing inflammation.
  • Grade 3 acne is severe acne causing reddening of the skin with inflammation, occurrence of papules, pustules and nodules in greater numbers.
  • Grade 4 acne is the most severe of them all and is known as nodular or cystic acne and is very painful. Occurrence of nodules, papules and pustules in a large number with severe pain, scarring and inflammation is identified.

What to do and what not to do?
Picking acne is tempting but painful and can worsen the condition by the spread of bacteria. It may also lead to increased frequency of outbreaks and inflammation. Squeezing or picking acne should be avoided completely as this may lead to the spreading of the infection and eventually cause further outbreaks. As the first measures for treating or avoiding further outbreak, you should clean your skin gently, resist touching the affected areas and avoid going out exposing your acne-affected skin to the sun.

Treatment for acne
Various skincare products are available on the market and making the right choice is much more confusing than before. Some skincare products that have chemical content can further damage the skin while some might cause irritation or allergic reactions. It is better to opt for natural products. The most popular organic acne treatment product include 1) Acnezine, 2) no! no! Skin acne treatment system, 3) Trioxil Acne Gel, 4) Skin Doctor's Gamma Hydroxy and 5) Skin Doctor's Zit Zapper. All these medications are proven effective by many. They come in the form of tablets, creams, exfoliating creams, gel and treatment wand. All these products do not have any side effects but doing a patch test or an ingredient check before applying is recommended.
