Affordable Liposuction: The Factors That Contribute To Cost

If you’re looking for affordable liposuction, you need to have an understanding of what factors play into determining how much you will pay. If you want to have some idea of why you are paying what you are paying, here are some of the factors that contribute to cost.

If you’re looking for affordable liposuction, you need to have an understanding of what factors play into determining how much you will pay. One of the first factors, of course, is where you choose to have the operation. A Beverly Hills plastic surgeon is going to charge considerably more, on average, than someone in the middle of Idaho. At the same time, this doesn’t necessarily mean you will get better results from the more expensive doctor. If you want to have some idea of why you are paying what you are paying, here are some of the factors that contribute to cost.

The Amount

Those looking for affordable liposuction should be acutely aware of how much fat they need to have removed. This is probably the biggest factor when it comes to how much you’ll be expected to pay. The process is not quick, and therefore takes up quite a bit of a doctor’s time. As they say, time is money. The more fat that needs to be removed, the more time consuming the surgery will be. Having said that, lipo really isn’t a procedure designed to take a fat person and make them skinny. It is a procedure developed to strike at problem areas—the areas that the patient has been unable to reduce with diet and exercise. It is not designed to be a quick fix or a substitute for lap band surgery.

Gender

Men and women store their fat in different ways and costs associated with removing that fat can vary as well. Generally speaking, a man’s fat is tougher than a woman’s. That means it is more difficult to remove. There is also the fact that, on average, men are bigger than women and may have more fat in a localized area that needs to be taken out. All of these can add to the costs associated with the surgery. Does that mean that every man will be privy to less affordable liposuction than every woman? Not at all. But it does play a role.

Hospitalization

If a doctor does not have the equipment on hand in the office to perform the procedure, hospital use costs will be added on to the bill. This pretty much eliminates any chance of getting affordable liposuction (with the term “affordable” being admittedly relative). Hospital costs will be extravagant, and you won’t likely be able to depend on your health insurance to pay for it. This is why many people recommend getting a procedure such a tumescent lipo, which can be done in the office without the use of either a hospital or expensive general anesthesia. Ask your plastic surgeon how they perform the operation, as it will give you an estimate of how much you’re likely to spend.
