Being able to spot Alzheimer's symptoms in your loved ones is the best way for you to act quickly and get them the help that they so desperately need.

Don't worry, just because mom or dad is showing indications of short term memory loss doesn't mean it's an Alzheimer symptom, although it is the way it starts out. At this juncture keep an eye on them. We all forget things from time to time and you shouldn't automatically go to the worst case scenario.

See if they have problems finding the right words to say, if they have difficulty recognize objects. Mom or dad might also regularly forget to do things like turn off a stove, lock their doors or close an open window. Also, forgetting how to use ordinary items, such as a pen or pencil, may also be an indicator of the disease. All of these things together should prompt you to talk to their physician.

Another common sign of Alzheimer's symptoms is agitation or irregular behavior. It's frustrating when you realize that you've forgotten something. It's also a bit scary, this can cause agitation, poor judgment, or other personality changes. Pay attention to the way your parent or loved one acts. Even if it's not this disease it might be time to go with them to their doctor and talk to him about their problems.

There are other indicators of Alzheimer's symptoms. These can include reasoning ability, language, spatial ability, behavior, or trouble handling complex tasks. If your loved one is having trouble in all of these areas you might want to get a medical opinion.

Each of these indicators might sound like simply aging. Even young people get flustered and forget what they are doing from time to time. That doesn't mean that they are showing the early signs of Alzheimer's symptoms. If you see more than one of these indicators or you see them frequently then you probably should take your family member to see their physician. While there is no cure there are things and treatment plans that your physician can prescribe to lessen the affects and delay the inevitable.
