Breast Augmentation Recovery Tips That Every Patient Should Know
No matter what type of breast augmentation procedure it is important to the healing process for you to take time out for recovery. It isn't just about resting. There are things you can do to help promote your recovery.
The First Day
You want to make sure that you keep on top of the pain. Before heading home make sure that you have your pain medication prescription filled. Make sure that you don't wait until you wake up at home to take that first pill. Consider taking one right away or shortly after getting home. That way you aren't waking up in pain. Because your breast augmentation just took place, don't plan to do much this day. The more you can rest and relax the better.
The Next Few Days
At some point your physician will want you to come in and check out how things are going with your breast augmentation. You probably aren't going to want to drive yourself, so make arrangements for someone to take you. While you may feel more mobile on these days, one of the biggest mistakes people make is overdoing it.
Most people aren't ready to go back to work quite yet. Use this time to just take care of yourself. You may feel like getting some work done at home; reading, checking emails or even making phone calls. But as soon as you begin to feel tired, stop what you are doing and go back to resting.
Several Days After
Now you are ready to head back to work. You may be going back at half time or going all the way back. In either case, you feel ready to get back to life as normal. Listen to your body and be sure to take a break when needed. Skip workouts and exercise until your doctor releases you. You could still be experiencing some pain and most people are still a little sore at this point in their recovery.
One of the most important things to remember about your breast augmentation recovery is follow all of the directions that your doctor gave you. There are all different types of procedures including lifts, implants, and reductions. There are some things that will be unique to the recovery of each one. After the procedure you can talk to your doctor about anything specific that you need to adhere to.
Don't worry about the bruising. Don't worry about being sore at first. It takes time to get things back to normal. If you have concerns or you are worries about something that just doesn't feel right, be sure to contact your doctor right away.
