Breast Augmentation Surgery and Its Ins and OutsThis article talks about the ins and outs of breast augmentation surgery. It also gives some of the disadvantages of getting one done. For most, if not all of these operations, an implant is used to alter the size, shape and form of the chest. There are several disadvantages to having these in the body and these may be the risk of developing certain cancers, tumors and cysts due to the body reacting negatively to the alien presence. Scarring can also occur if the patient is prone to them and the sacs can also deflate or rupture causing more complications for the patent. Before Surgery Before the actual operation, there are certain requirements that the doctor might ask from the patient. These requirements may have something to do with the patient’s health and lifestyle. The overall health of the person is a must for any operation and the risks must be outlined and explained well by the surgeon. If the patient is a smoker, he or she needs to stop smoking for several weeks, sometimes a few months, before the operation for optimum and safe results. Breast augmentation surgery is a major operation, which means that the patient will be under anesthesia and other sedatives which the doctor may need to facilitate the procedure. These drugs come with certain risks and the patient should be aware of these. During the Procedure During the breast augmentation surgery, the medical staff will have to monitor the patient well. Despite having a minimal number of incisions a full service medical staff will most likely be there to prevent anything bad from happening or to help lower the chances of complications and risks happening. There are several techniques in putting in the implants and the doctor would have discussed this with the patient long before the actual operation. The main areas where incisions are made are usually the armpits, the underside of the bosoms and sometimes even the navel. Recovery After the incisions have been taped up, the patient is wheeled to the recovery room where he or she is closely monitored. The breast augmentation surgery should have taken just a few hours. Some individuals prefer to stay in the hospital overnight in order to be closely monitored by medical staff while others may opt to go home when they have recovered from the grogginess of the drugs. It is important that there is someone with the patient for the first twenty four hours after the operation. This is a precautionary measure, just in case, some complications may occur at home. The patient should prepare the necessary paraphernalia and materials needed to alleviate the pain and the soreness that may come after the breast augmentation surgery. The doctor will have given some prescriptions regarding pain relief , antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. These should be filled several days before the operation and be on hand during the recovery period.Article Tags: Breast Augmentation Surgery, Breast Augmentation, Augmentation Surgery, Medical Staff Source: Free Articles from ArticlesFactory.com
