Breast Lift for Older Women

This article is about breast lift for older women around the age of fifty or more. It gives factors that can affect the surgery.

A breast lift is a cosmetic surgery endeavor that is done to the bosoms to make them appear more pert or uplifted. Women who wish to undergo this procedure are those who are not happy with the current state of their chest. There are many women who have perfectly shaped chests but eventually these lose their shape due to many factors. Some of the factors that affect them are pregnancy, breast feeding, age and a yo-yoing weight loss and gain. These are not the only factors, but these are the most common ones. Age is one of the factors that cannot be reversed by exercise or weight gain, although almost all of the factors are virtually impossible to revert without the aid of a breast lift. Massages and exercises can prevent the drooping appearance of some bosoms but it basically depends on the individual herself to what extent she will go to maintain the appearance of her breasts.

Older Women

For older women who may not be able to exercise as vigorously or as regularly as younger women, the option of this cosmetic procedure is very appealing. Plastic surgeons prefer their patients to be healthy and able to withstand the rigors of a major or minor surgery. To establish the candidacy of a patient, testing should be done before the breast lift procedure. These tests include blood work, heart assessment and others that are connected to the overall health of the individual. Older patients tend to have underlying problems which may be related to heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and many others. The surgeons need to assess whether the diseases or ailments are harmless during major or even minor surgery. Hypertension can negatively affect any operation as well as anxiety or tension. Outpatient surgeries are considered minor, but there are still many risks associated with these.

Establishing how physically and mentally fit an older woman is can be easy. At the age of fifty, most people have had a checkup or two. It is best for the patient to bring the results of the previous checkups in order for the plastic surgeon to study them for future reference. The mental preparation for changes like these can be tedious for some but for others, it is nothing. As with younger individuals, doctors do not like to perform any operation on people who smoke, indulge in too much alcohol or those who do drugs. Smokers and heavy drinkers are asked to stop for several weeks before undergoing the breast liftBusiness Management Articles, while those who do drugs may need to be rehabilitated for some time before any possibility of a major or minor operation.

Older women also need to be aware that the state of their skin has a lot to do with the success of an operation featuring the bosoms. Skin in this area should be flexible and have enough elasticity to go back to the way it was before the operation. The breast lift can drastically change the state of the skin which is why it is important to check it before anything else.
