Women have the need for maintaining their mammary glands in case they want to be able to breastfeed a future child. Symmetry is also important to women because of the shape of their breasts as opposed to the flatter chests of men. In spite of being less complicated, breast reduction for men is no less risky than that of women because it is still a major operation. The same medications and rugs may be used to ensure minimal or no pain and discomfort during the operation.
