Cholesterol is an often misunderstood substance that is present in our body. Our body makes cholesterol in the liver and it also gets the cholesterol from different types of foods that we eat. There is a huge misconception related to cholesterol that it is very harmful for our health but the fact is that cholesterol is a major component of our body cells. However, very high level of cholesterol in the body can be dangerous so it is very important for us to understand what cholesterol is and what level of cholesterol is healthy for our body?

Cholesterol is a lipid which is mainly produced by our liver and is used in the manufacturing of body cells and various sex hormones. Cholesterol travels in our blood stream in the form of two compounds packaged together namely LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol. Overall high level of cholesterol or uneven ratio of LDL and HDL cholesterol present in the body can be harmful for our health and can lead to heart problems.

Most of the deaths from heart disease are due to high levels of cholesterol in the body. Moreover,Cholesterol – Good or Bad?
