Choosing A Breast Augmentation Surgeon

It's important not to rush to judgment when choosing a breast augmentation surgeon. You should take your time and compile a list of the best surgeons recommend by friends and family as well as those you have found through your research.

A good source for plastic surgeons is the website for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which has a search feature to find practitioners to add to your list. Once you have compiled your list you can begin cutting it down to size. First, check to see if every surgeon on your list is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Any doctor on your list that isn't a member of this board should be crossed off. Even if they come highly recommended by a close friend or family member, you should still avoid any practitioner who is not a member of the ABPS.

The next way to cut your list down to size is by scrutinizing the education of your potential surgeons. You can simply look up what schools they graduated from on their websites and then rank each doctor according to the reputation of their school. Be sure and go by the reputation of the medical school they attend and not the university in general. Depending on how short your list is getting you can throughout the bottom half of the ranked doctors or you can just keep the top five on your list.

At this point, you can look into the number of malpractice suits that have been filed against the remaining doctors on your list. Understand that a few malpractice suits over the course of a long career as a surgeon is no big deal, but if some of the surgeons have a line of people that have sued them for malpractice then you should cut this doctor from your list. By now you should have narrowed your list of breast augmentation experts down considerably, but there is another step you can take.

Try to get a hold of some before and after pictures from each surgeon on your list. They usually have these posted on their website. Don't be confused by some before and after pictures that are faked. Sometimes doctors use fancy morphing technology to show a patient what their breast augmentation could look like and then post this online to pass it off as surgery they have performed. You can distinguish these photos by the hair and clothing being exactly alike.

A real testimonial photo will first show the patient before surgery and then show the patient months after surgery and recovery. If you like the work of one doctor over another you can usually find this out by checking out their testimonial photos.

Now your list of doctors should be narrowed down far enough for you to make appointments for consultations with your top choices. Beware of high prices for consultationsBusiness Management Articles, but once you have met the finalists on your list of breast augmentation surgeons you will probably know which doctor you want to go with.
