Cosmetic Surgery for the Lower BodyThere are several lift-type cosmetic surgery options to improve the contours of the lower body. They can create better curves and smooth the skin after weight loss or as a result of aging. When considering whether or not to undergo aesthetic enhancement for real or perceived defects in the appearance of their body, many people fail to consider the lower extremities. Frequently the focus is on the face, the breasts, and the neck. In fact many people do not realize there are lots of different procedures to treat the loose and excess skin of the thighs, hips and stomach. The need for surgical refinement of these areas can originate from aging in some instances, but it is often caused by excessive weight loss. In these types of cosmetic surgery, the extra tissue is removed and the area is sutured back up. The remaining skin and fat is repositioned afterward and the result is an overall appearance that is smoother and lacking in some of the earlier imperfections. One type of cosmetic surgery for the legs is called a medial thigh lift. This is a fairly inconspicuous operation because the incisions are concealed in the crease of the groin. The excess fat and flesh of the inner thigh is removed and reduced and everything is then pulled up and reattached. This flattens out the texture and is often done in conjunction with liposuction to create a better-looking curve of the thigh. A similar cosmetic surgery is a lateral thigh lift. It involves removing extra weight from the outer thigh and hip. Again, placing it high where undergarments or a bathing suit will hide it conceals the incision. A similar process is done, sometimes with liposuction, to re-contour the outer leg. Afterward, the loose skin is tightened and reattached creating a better curve. For those who have lost a significant amount of weight, it is particularly hard to tighten the buttocks. The result is often sagging and bagging with puckering that is very unattractive. That is why it is recommended that a segment along the upper portion of the buttocks be removed and tightened. Doing this reduces the looseness of the flesh and creates a new line to the base of the buttocks. For many it is suggested that all of these procedures be combined into one operation in order to maximize the effects and minimize the time spent under the knife and more importantly under anesthesia. Cosmetic surgery that addresses the lower body demands a fair amount of downtime to facilitate healing. That is why doing it all at once can allow a patient to get a lot of results and only endure one period of recuperation. It will likely require several weeks before one can return to normal activity but it is better to miss a month of work and other commitments once than to miss two weeks on several different occasions. Plus , after two months most people are able to resume all activities they once participated in. For many patients that means in a short time the can return to the beach or the gym unafraid and unashamed by their new streamlined bodies.Source: Free Articles from ArticlesFactory.com
