Diabetes Care: Why We ALL Need to Care

Diabetes is frequently seen as an inconvenience, but if it is properly managed and there is proper diabetes care, then it is just that, an inconvenience, right?  Well the reality is that diabetes care is something that can be very difficult for people to manage.

Diabetes is often seen as being a condition that is an inconvenience, but if it is properly managed and there is proper diabetes care, then it is just that, an inconvenience, right?  Well the reality is that diabetes care is something that can be very difficult for people to manage.  Controlling your blood sugars sounds easy enough, but in reality, the condition can be difficult to keep under control and many people who have diabetes find that it makes them feel isolated at times and they are often prone to depression, sometimes with associated anxiety.

Patients with diabetes sometimes assert that they feel as if they are not undertaking diabetes care, but rather they are being controlled by diabetes.  They have to be near insulin or medication at all times, they worry about having very low blood sugars, but conversely may also worry if their readings are too high.  So it really can feel as if you are being controlled by diabetes and in turn this can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression and low self esteem.

That is why we, as a Society, need to show caring and compassion to people with diabetes, so that instead of diabetes care being something that they alone have to worry about, it can be something that everyone has an understanding of and together we can ensure that people with diabetes are able to live a full life in Society and instead of ignorance or even prejudice, their condition is met with understanding and compassion.

One day any one of us may develop diabetes.  In fact physicians often describe diabetes as being a time bomb waiting to go off, so one day, it could be me or it could be you who has to come to terms with diabetes care.  The more we know and the more we understand about it, then the easier this will be and hopefully, it will be much easier to manage diabetes and diabetes care will be much easierFree Web Content, so that depression and anxiety will be much rarer for people with diabetes than it is today!
