With the continuing ban on smoking cigarettes and the numerous campaigns to show the negative health effects of smoking cigarettes more and more people are turning away from cigarettes. However, as anyone who has ever tried to stop smoking knows, quitting smoking is one of the hardest things in life to accomplish. All of these situations combined have led to the development and the introduction of electronic cigarettes. So what exactly are electronic cigarettes?

Electronic cigarettes are small portable devices that simulate the act of smoking. From an appearance point of view, many brands of electronic cigarettes look just like actual cigarettes. The rest of them look like ball point pens. There is a recent Hollywood movie, The Tourist that increased the popularity of electronic cigarettes. The electronic cigarette in the movie looked just like any old regular cigarette.

An electronic cigarette is made up of several components. First, there is the liquid. The liquid is a substance that is made up mostly of water in a propylene glycol or glycerin base. The majority of electronic cigarette liquid solutions also include nicotine. The liquid is put into a cartridge.

The cartridge in an electronic cigarette dispenses the smoke. Some types of electronic cigarettes have trigger that you press to dispense the liquid, while other more expensive types have a sensor on the mouth piece that dispenses the liquid when you press the electronic cigarette to your lips. The liquid in an cigarette is heated up by an atomizer. The atomizer is the heating element responsible for vaporizing the liquid and causing the smoke that you inhale from your electronic cigarette. Some types of electronic cigarettes combine the atomizer and the cartridge into one part known as the cartomizer.

The final part of an electronic cigarette is the power source. Electronic cigarettes contain a power unit with a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The power unit is the largest part of an electronic cigarette and it is what powers the device and the atomizer.

As previously mentioned, the goal of an electronic cigarette is to simulate the act of smoking. E-cigars allow smokers to be able to get their nicotine fix in places where regular cigarettes are banned. For people who are trying to quit smoking, electronic cigarettes are a means to an end. An electronic cigarette will simulate the act of smoking. While the act of smoking is not technically addictive, many smokers do suffer from an oral fixation that electronic cigarettes meet.

Electronic cigarettes contain much less nicotine than regular cigarettes, making them somewhat healthier. Also, since they contain less nicotine, e-cigarettes can be used by people trying to quit smoking to gradually reduce and ultimately stop their intake of nicotine. In fact, many types of electronic cigarettes use a flavored liquid that those not even contain nicotine.

In the end an electronic cigarette is in essence a cigarette, but in many aspects it is muchFree Web Content, much more and can be used in so many more ways than a traditional cigarette.
