Face Lift — How Cost Factors In

If the face lift was a free procedure, everyone over a certain age would be rushing to get them. When done by a good surgeon, they are truly miracles when it comes to preserving and restoring that youthful look. Of course, they aren’t free, which leaves many wondering if they could afford to have it done.

It’s a shame when something that would bring so much joy to so many people is out of a certain price range, but those are the facts. Even so, there are things to consider about the cost of the procedure. If you look around, you may be able to get something done without breaking the bank.

It’s in the bones of most people to go looking for a bargain wherever they can find one. When you go car shopping, you’re likely to haggle a bit with the salesman when it comes to price. When it comes to buying a new refrigerator, you might hit up a few stores to make sure you’re getting the best price for the appliance. It only makes sense to do the same thing with your face lift, right? Wrong. When it comes to your health, the last thing you want is a bargain basement procedure. Does that mean you have to go to the most expensive plastic surgeon in Los Angeles? Of course not, but you wouldn’t want to go to the least expensive one, either.

Keep in mind that the term “face lift” covers a lot of ground. It isn’t just one procedure. Doctors have different techniques they use and there are different levels of invasiveness and these can often correlate to higher or lower costs. If you’re only having a little bit of annoyance with loose skin around the neck, you may be able to get a lower cost procedure than if you went in expecting miracles. It’s also worth considering that there are other techniques out there that can sometimes do the job better. These are all considerations you can bring up with your surgeon.

Where you live will also play a role in how much your face lift costs. While the warning about price shopping stands, it’s worth thinking about going to a smaller area to get the procedure done. Prices in big metropolitan areas are necessarily higher than they will be in smaller cities. The doctor has to charge these higher prices. Not because the tools he is using are any better or because his skill is any greater, but simply because he has to live and pay rent in a very expensive area. If you’re looking for a bargainArticle Submission, finding a doctor outside of those big cities may be the only safe way to find one.
