If you meditate, you are able to rise above the ‘thinking mind’. You'll be able to experience a deeper level of self-awareness and all of engulfing sense of calm. In fact, with experience and practice it will be easier to take one step back and meditate anywhere, even when you are stuck in the center of a traffic jam! Meditation in fact, is centered on training the mind to detach and release all the negativity stored within. When you're able to perform that, no goal, be it professional or personal is going to be too hard for you!
Do you want a flavor for this experience? Here’s a simple exercise that we recommend for all my clients, when they're starting:
1. Seek for a relaxing and quiet environment. Since you are beginner, you'll have to look for a place with minimum distractions. You can meditate within your bedroom, lounge or balcony, just be certain the area is clutter free, quiet and provides you with comfortable seating and temperature. You may choose to play soft music in the background as well (pick a gentle, repetitive, and calm melody).
2. Select a level surface. You can sit or lay down on the floor in the open, on the ground within a room, or you prefer a cushioned chair, you might think of that as well. Ensure that though that your back is often straight.
3. Concentrate on your breathing. You have to remove the chattering and anything else going within your mind. You might count each breath as you exhale and inhale, or if you are fantastic at visualizing, you might imagine yourself inside a beautiful place where you feel calm and secure. Maybe it's a beach, a lush meadow, or maybe a snow- clad field surrounded by majestic mountains.
4. Silence the mind. While you’re learning how to meditate, you should clear your body and mind out of thought possible. This will take a moment to find out. Don’t label your ideas as bad or good; just let them flow inside and out as if you are watching them from the distance. Keep the focus on just one mundane task, it would be your breathing, a chant or the calming repetitive beats from the music playing in the background.
This is actually the simplest kind of meditation. Lots of beginners, however, choose to begin with Guided meditation. To practice this technique, it's always best to seek help from a coach. Instead of silencing the mind and improving your awareness, guided meditation involves going on a journey of self-discovery through creative visualization. The strategy is certainly very popular among sportsmen; they will use it to develop their mental resolve before important matches. Guided meditation can also be appropriate those seeking to achieve specific goals (which include anger management, building emotional stability, migraine relief, etc) through meditation. Whatever technique you decide to choose, you have a lot to look forward to in the event you practice the art with sincerity and dedication.
