There are wide number of different beliefs and viewpoints on hair care and styling that sometimes you can get confused just  as to which of these are actually true. It even happens sometimes that you get devastated when you discover actual method you have been practicing almost your entire life is a myth.
To avoid this from happening it is therefore essential that you know some of the common misconceptions or myths all about hair so that you do not make the mistake of believing or practicing them. Listed below are some of them.
Myth # 1 - You need to wash your hair daily in your routine.
Just like the need to take a bath every day, it sounds sensible to wash your hair daily too. However so  you have to know that the latter is not necessary. In fact, doing so can only strip it of the essential oils needed to maintain its healthy gloss and sheen. Even if you plan to use a mild shampoo then  it would still be better if you give your tresses a break from shampoo within the week.
Myth # 2 - Shaving your hair can alter its texture.
This is a belief that has long been held by parents who make the mistake of thinking that shaving their baby's scalp will result comes  in a change in hair texture. This is not true. It will remain the same texture even if you go bald. This means that if you detest your frizzy hair, shaving your head is not necessarily the solution because it will not magically grow healthy and shiny afterwards.
Myth # 3 - Constant use of hair equipment can damage it.
This belief actually depends on what kind of equipment you are using. For instance, if you are using FHI irons, then you really have nothing to worry about even if you practically iron your hair thrice a week. However but  if you are using cheap generic irons that make use of PTC heaters, which are not capable of sustaining consistent heat, then you will be in a lot of trouble.
Remember, high quality irons and other equipment are equipped with a technology that will not be harmful to your hair. FHI irons, for example, has an adjustable heat setting that allows you to set the temperature ideal for your hair type and texture. Moreover, it emits negative ions that contribute to a healthy glow in your locks.
Myth # 4 - Applying lemon juice on it will lighten your blonde hair.
Lemon juice as a natural lightener is not only ineffective; it is also a waste of time. If you want to lighten your blonde hair, the best way to do it is to go to a salon, consult a professional stylist and find out what kind of coloring treatment will be suitable for you.
Myth # 5 - There is nothing wrong with using hair products that are not ideal for its type.
Many people make the mistake of thinking that using products ideal for another person's hair type is all right. But the truth is, this can so contribute to unhealthy hair or worsen a problem if you have one.
