* Oral forms of aloe are added to herbal weight-loss products. Oral aloe produces a strong cathartic response (producing bowel movements). Many aloe weight-loss products are marketed as "internal cleansers."
* Aloe or aloe containing products should not be ingested orally. Use of this agent orally has lead to side effects such as abdominal cramping, diarrhea, electrolyte disturbances, and decreases in potassium. In addition, due to the side effect profile some significant drug interactions can occur with medications such as digoxin (Lanoxin) and diuretics [i.e. furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (Esidrix, Hydro-D, HydroDIURIL) and others].
* The use of aloe internally has yielded inconsistent therapeutic effects, and has not been shown to be effective for permanent weight loss.

The use of herbs is a time-honored approach to strengthening the body and treating disease. The following have been used traditionally to treat obesity:

Guggul (Commiphora mukul): The gum of Commiphora Mukul called 'guggulu' is the drug of choice for the treatment of obesity. It lowers down the level of cholesterol and removes deposited fat quickly. It helps to regulate the lipid metabolism. Its benenfits as a weight-loss and fat burning agent have been well researched and documented in several studies.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra): Licorice root strengthens the adrenal glands, thus helping to sustain a regulated blood-sugar level and reduce cravings for sweets. Licorice tastes sweet.
Dose: Take a cup of licorice daily, one week out of every month for up to three months.

Triphala (Emblica officinalis): Effective Laxative which takes away fats from body & reduces weight. It is said to promote normal appetite, good digestion, increase red blood cells and hemoglobin. It has strong purifying and antioxidant qualities as well as reducing the overall water content in the body tissues.

Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis): Aloe vera juice improves digestion and cleanses the digestive tract.

Garcinia Cambogia: Garcinia slows down the enzyme process that is responsible for producing fat within the body's cells. As a result, the process of thermogenesis is accelerated. The active ingredient in Garcinia cambogi that hydroxy-citric acid, has been shown effectively to help reduce appetite by maintaining the blood sugar levels in the body. It also helps promote the conversion of blood sugar into glycogen rather than fat.

Some tips to reduce 'weight'

Use vegetable oil instead of butter or stick margarine.

Prefer eating steam, boiled, microwave vegetables.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily to avoid fluid retention.

Choose an activity to burn your calories.

Do some regular exercise, atleast walking, jogging or swimming.

Eat less salty foods, alcohol, dairy products, sugar, margarine.

Replace whole milk with skim or low fat milk for your preparation.
