Home Remedies For Burns, Simple and Effective Ways

Burn is described as an injury to the skin caused by excessive heat, friction, radiation, fire, electricity, light or chemicals. There are many home remedies for burns which are simple to follow and effective when used.


Injury to the skin caused by excessive heat, friction, radiation, fire, electricity, light or chemicals is known as burn. Minor burns can be treated by home remedies but if the injury caused by burn is severe then it is recommended to take immediate medical assistance.

Burns Home Remedies

There are several home remedies for burns which are simple to follow and easy to use. Some of the popular home remedies for burns are:

1. One of the most effective remedies for burns is the use of the milk. All you need to do is soak the affected area in the milk for fifteen minutes. Or you can take a clean cloth and soak it in milk and then apply to the affected area. Milk contains fat which soothes the burns and helps in healing.

2. Papaya is one of the effective home remedies for burns. Take papaya pulp and apply it directly on the affected area. Papaya is known to have enzymes which are very beneficial in removing the dead cells and healing the wound.

3. Lavender oil is very helpful in speeding up the healing process. It is also known to reduce pain and prevents scarring. All you need to do is clean the affected area with water and mild soap and then apply the mixture of lavender oil with olive oil or almond oil in the ratio of 1:3. Apply this mixture three times a day for better results and remember to leave the wound uncovered.

4. Plantain leaves are very helpful in treating burns. Just take a plantain leaf and smash it little bit with a hammer. Now warp this leaf to the affected area.

5. Aloe vera is also very effective in treating burns. Cut aloe vera leaves and apply them directly on the burns. In order to prevent scarring it is beneficial to break a vitamin E capsule and pour its liquid on the wound.

6. Egg white is another simple home remedy for burns. All you need to do is separate egg white from the egg and apply it directly on the affected area. 

7. In order to get immediate relief you can try applying dish washing detergent on the affected area. 

8. Yoghurt can be very helpful in treating burns. Just take two tablespoons of yoghurt and then apply it on the burning area. Leave it there for fifteen minutes. 

9. Applying ice on the affected area is very helpful in giving immediate relief. Or you can even try soaking the affected area in chilled water for fifteen to twenty minutes.

10. Another effective home remedy is the use of honey. Just apply some honey directly on the burning area and then cover it with bandage.

11. Cut a piece of onion and place it on the affected area. This will give you instant relief from the pain.

These were some of the efficient home remedies for burns which have been used since a very long time and have proved to be effective in many cases.
