Abrasions are caused by minor scraping, cutting or rubbing of the skin, consequential in it being grazed or broken. - As usual, wash the affected region with anti-bacterial soap and use a red washcloth to soothe the child from seeing the blood if you are treating a child. Or else, coat the abrasion with a good quality, solid coat of Vaseline (no sting) and ironically, it works for more than aiding dry skin.

 

- Wash wound area and applies cod liver oil, vitamin E oil, or aloe vera gel over the effected region.

 

- Garlic oil will useful to decrease infection and inflammation. Put band-aid and place over the abrasion.

 

- Dock leaves can also be applied either straight or as a lotion. You can also apply tea prepared sage or bruised geranium leaves

 

- One another helpful home remedy for abrasion is the herb Calendula, which is anti-inflammatory, astringent and antiseptic. Calendula is said to support new skin development and bring to an end the bleeding.
