Acknowledge it, piles sound (and feel) unpleasant plus the concept of getting them is not precisely the greatest notion worldwide.

Admit it,How to Maintain Good Anal Hygiene When Suffering from Hemorrhoids Articles hemorrhoids sound (and feel) painful and the idea of having them isn’t exactly the best thought in the world. But when it does come down to it, how do you keep your rectal area clean while those pesky things are there to torment you?

Here are a few sure-fire and easy tips in keeping a good hygiene without further agitating those hemorrhoids until they fully heal:

• Clean and wipe gently
When showering / bathing, soaping the affected area isn’t advised for it may cause more irritation. Although, natural cleansing products are preferable, just make sure to rinse it thoroughly with clean water and don’t scrub the area. Washing the anus with only water is also highly advisable. After everything, gently blot area with a soft towel or use a blow dryer set in cool to dry it.

Also, after using the toilet – usually after releasing bowel movement – avoid using toiler paper to aggravating the hemorrhoids. Disposable baby wipes are a great alternative for the meantime, especially if showering / bathing becomes bothersome for you.

Additionally, applying zinc oxide products (paste or powder) after cleaning the area can help lessen and avoid irritation.

• When experiencing bowel movement…
Make sure to use the toilet as soon as you feel a bowel movement coming, but don’t take a long time sitting on the toilet; 3-5 minutes on the toilet is enough time to prevent further irritation. Also, avoid multitasking like watching television, reading, and others because it might extend your stay in the bathroom.

Another thing you need to avoid is straining or forcing your bowels to release excessively. This will cause an unnecessary expansion of the hemorrhoidal venous cushions, hence possibly developing more problems with your hemorrhoids. Gently straining the abdominal and pelvic muscles for less than 30 consecutive seconds is advisable.

If you were not able to do your business in the required time mentioned, don’t fret. Take a break, and walk around until you feel the urge to use the toilet again.

• Keeping the anus dry
The anal area is prone to irritation and infection when it’s moist. Sprinkling a little baby powder or corn starch and placing a cotton ball in between the buttocks can prevent unwanted moisture in the anal area. If blood of any amount is found on the cotton ball, tell a doctor as soon as possible.

These hygiene tips may help you during your hemorrhoidal misery, but also remember that keeping good (anal) hygiene and proper health in general to prevent the forming of hemorrhoids are important, too. Consume enough fiber and fluids, and move around and exercise frequently to help your digestion so that the stools move easily through your body. Also, and probably the most important reminder, do not pass up the opportunity to release your bowels when you feel the urge to and again, prevent excessive straining to prevent future hemorrhoidal growth – and if you’re very careful, you can still also follow the time and straining limit rule mentioned above.
