Do you take your hearing for granted? I know I do. To be honest with you,How You Can Benefit From a Yearly Hearing Test Articles it's just not something I think about too much, but I know I should. I also heard recently I should have a hearing test at least once a year; preferably at the same time I have my annual medical check up. So why don't the two of us explore the wise reasons behind this thinking. Having a hearing test should be as routine as turning another year older and especially if you begin to experience any amount of auditory loss. Every time you have one performed will give your audiologist a baseline comparison from year to year. This will simply reveal a progression in the diminishment of your loss, if any, and it will also allow him to come up with a beneficial plan of action. There are some specific things, which can be done to alter our progression of loss. For one, if you live or work in a smoky or dusty environment, if your around loud construction machinery or even the volume of your music - all of these things can cause your loss to continue on a downward spiral. These are all items, which can most likely be controlled or eliminated quite easily. You may need to change your lifestyle, but it will be worth it not to experience any more loss. It's true as well that all newborns are mandatorily tested and school-age children have a yearly test. So, because it's most likely that you and I will lose some of our hearing as we age, why shouldn't we get an annual check up? It's a truth that says "47% of all adults over 75 are hearing impaired." I mean, that's almost half percentage-wise! It's also true the sooner your hearing level has been diagnosed, the more benefit you'll receive from an auditory aid if you should choose to wear one. The more progressed your impairment, the less the aids will be able to help you hear well. This is the greatest value from having an auditory test. Early detection makes for better hearing with the assistance of an aid. I just "heard" the other day one reason people with a pronounced auditory loss don't adjust well to an aid is because they wait too long to get them. Their ears get so used to hearing or not hearing in a different way, they become used to the non-noise. Then, when they wear their aids for the first time, they have difficulty adjusting to the new hearing level and give up on them. All of this happens primarily because they wait too long to have a hearing test and their hearing level grows worse fast. I don't want this to happen to me, and I'm betting you don't either. Let's agree to have a hearing test very soon so we can continue to enjoy a better quality of life every day.
