Since the vaporizer unit is gas powered, it heats up very fast, right around 25 to 50 sec. it takes. Then afterwards it keeps up its temperature by re-igniting continuously, which is actually based on an internal thermostat. The vaporizer comes with various mouthpiece extensions. So it can be made very short, or intentionally a little longer (a longer hose rocks). Actually a very short mouthpiece does get very warm, but a longer works without any problem. The bowl is wide which makes it easy to pack the vaporizer with any herb, while cleaning out the bowl and mouthpiece after ever few bowls it not the most fun anyone has ever had.
Some great things about the Iolite Vaporizer are that it is very easy and quick to use. If one has a spare 3-5 minutes (like visiting the rest room and taking time) he/she can easily get in a few hits & be ready to go. The vaporizer is very easy to use in the car; it looks like a walkie-talkie and does not stand out at all. It does not create a lot of sound/noise, music or a small vent fan can easily cover up its sound of heating up. The gas in the vaporizer lasts for about 3-5 bowls before it needs to get refilled. It’s very easy, fast and cheap to refill gas (which is butane) which makes this very ideal for camping or prolonged trips away from the outlets.
About some of the cons of the product, the bowl could have been easier to clean. It’s not that hard. But still. Also, there is no Temperature control; it’s just ON/OFF. However this is not really an issue as it holds up a nice temperature. Once the unit is turned off, it basically stops anymore gas to enter the device, and the Iolite Portable Vaporizer will cycle through 2-4 more heating cycles before it actually runs out of gas. When in hurry and looking only for 3-4 hits, one should turn the unit off after the first hit or once it’s done with its initial heating cycle.
Overall the Portable Iolite Vaporizer is well worth its price.
