IBS or irritable bowel syndrome is a condition that is quite common. By knowing which food can trigger your symptoms, so you can avoid them.

So, what is the best way to avoid foods which cause the symptoms? First, make your own diet sheet and food journal. With these, you can list down all possible food that causes your intestine to aggravate. To help you more, I have list down some of the foods that can be the source of your bowel disorder. Just keep in mind that these foods may not be necessary bad for you, as it varies depending on individual case.

Caffeine – drinks with caffeine content like carbonated soda, coffee and sometimes tea, should be best avoided for people who has IBS.

Dairy products – Milk and butter are the number one cause of IBS. A lot of people are just lactose intolerant. If you are one of them, you should try drinking soy milk or other milk products that are specifically tailored for this problem.

Chocolate – if you are a chocolate lover and cannot entirely break this delicious habit, you should at least try to lessen you intake. If you are eating chocolate daily, try reducing it into 2 -3 times a week.

Fried Foods – All spicy, oil and fatty foods are a definite NO to people like you that have IBS. Avoid them entirely if possible.

Citrus, Gluten, Alcohol and red meats are other foods that may irritate your bowel.

Of course, if you are to avoid food like above, there should be others that you need to eat more or on a regular basis to help your body function properly.

Fiber Food – Foods that are high in fiber should be eaten habitually and must be part of your daily diet, such as fresh vegetables and fruits, kidney and Lima beans, whole grain cereals and bread. They are the best to fight constipation.

Drink lots of water – Drinking 7- 8 glasses of water each day can help prevent constipation, in addition it can also aid you from becoming dehydrated, particularly if you have diarrhea.

IBS can be prevented from reoccurring again, if you will be able to follow all these suggestion; a good eating habit, regular exercise, taking food rich in fiber, eight glasses of water a day, and avoiding stressful situation and trigger foods.

A food diary can help you narrow down the list of food to avoid. Write everything down, from the type of food to the kind of beverages you drink, and what time you took and ate them. All these are essential way to give you an idea in determining your trigger food. So what are you waiting for? Start making your list, as the sooner you can get them done, the faster your IBS can be treated.
