Is A Brow Lift Really Necessary? Many people decide to undergo plastic surgery for various reasons, but some patients actually need the surgery for very interesting reasons. A good example of this is the brow lift, also known as the forehead lift or browplasty, where surgery is undertaken to alter the elevation of the skin across the forehead. Erich Lexer, a well known German surgeon, first wrote about browplasty techniques in 1910. This technique, which lasted up through the 1950s utilizes a long incision from one ear across the top of the head along the hairline to the other ear. The skin is then pull away from the bone and up before being trimmed and sown back to the skull. This kind of brow lift procedure is very rarely practiced anymore due to the invasiveness as well as the amount of scaring in the hairline that remains. Today, the amount and size of incisions is minimized with the use of endoscopic surgery. Surgery is usually done in other areas of the face at the same time as the browplasty to keep the overall features of the patient even, so endoscopic surgery can utilize the incisions of a facelift or blepharoplasty to raise the forehead skin. Under other circumstances, endoscopic forehead lifts can be done through small incisions in the scalp. These incisions are small enough to not leave a large scar in the hairline like the original Erich Lexer procedure does. For those patients that still don't think surgery is worth going through, even if they have a heavily wrinkled brow, there is an even less invasive procedure than an actual lift. Injectable treatments do not entail any surgery, but they are still effective in removing wrinkles. Sometimes wrinkles on the forehead can appear as worry lines, or they can appear as stress lines and dermal fillers can help with this unintended facial appearance. Whether you have a condition that requires a fully invasive brow lift or a more modern endoscopic browplasty or if you just need a round of injectable treatments , there is always an option to treat the unintended facial expressions and decreased vision of a wrinkled or drooping brow.Source: Free Articles from ArticlesFactory.com
