Liposuction: Get Rid Of The Flab

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure often used to remove fat deposits from the abdominal area, but the rest of the body can also be treated with the procedure. Patients with fat deposits in their thighs, back, legs, ankles, arms, and flank may also be able to benefit.

While most people who think of liposuction think first of the tummy, as in the tummy tuck procedure, this cosmetic surgery may be applied to other areas of the body. It can also be use on the face, neck, thighs, back, arms, legs, and flanks.

Abdomen
The abdomen is the most common body area to be treated with liposuction, and this holds true for both genders.

Using the procedure on the abdomen benefits those who have recently lost much weight but have some lingering fatty areas in the abdominal region, women who have leftover fat deposits after childbirth or a c-section, or those who simply want to define their abdominal area better. The procedure can be sued on subcutaneous fat, which is located just below the skin but above the abdominal cavity. Those located deeper in the body cannot be removed with this surgery.

Thighs
All areas of the thighs can be treated with liposuction, including the anterior region, the interior of the leg, or the outer thigh. Surgeons typically choose to do only one portion at a time, because doing the entire thigh creates complications and a delay in recovery.

Back
“Back fat” is a common complaint among otherwise slender women. This cosmetic procedure can smooth some of the areas on the back that are prone to rolls and fat buildup. Skin on the back tends to develop hyper-pigmentation easily, so the number of incision sites should be limited.

Arms
While most areas of the body can be treated with this cosmetic procedure, the arms are one of the best areas to treat. This caters to the needs of women, smoothes the arm without leaving behind visible scars on most patients.

Face and Neck
The flab on the chin, cheeks, and jowls is easily removed with liposuction. Recovery is typically rapid with few, if any, scars. This is much safer than a face-lift, and also produces better results for most candidates, particularly those who are still young with good skin elasticity.

Legs and Ankles
Because most on the legs is superficial, it responds well to surgical intervention. However, the risk of injury to the veins in this area of the body is quite high, especially behind the knee. Patients should carefully discuss the risks on the legs.

Flanks
In men, flab in the flank area creates unsightly bulges known as “love handles,” This is the region just above the crest of the hipbone, in what women call the waist. Surgery can remove fat here, but only under the hands of a skilled surgeonBusiness Management Articles, as it is a difficult area to treat.
