Liposuction Limitations

This article talks about the limitations that liposuction has regarding the procedure and the results. It also includes the limits of how good a candidate the person will be for liposuction.

Liposuction is one of the more popular forms of cosmetic surgery for both men and women. In spite of being a routine procedure, there are factors that need to be discussed between the patient and the doctor before performing the operation. One of the primary things that the surgeon may stress during a consultation is the result of the procedure. Another important aspect is how good a candidate the person is for it and yet another is the limits that the procedure has.

The Result

Many people believe that liposuction results will turn them immediately into sexy bombshells, but they are forgetting several things. The procedure in itself just takes out the dissolved fat and does nothing to get rid of the excess skin that is left sagging from the lack of fat underneath it. Patients should not be disappointed to see that there are some excess skin and tissue left in the belly or thighs after the operation. Another operation may be necessary to get rid of these. Some swelling may also be present a few days immediately after the procedure which may mask the end results. Patience is important in viewing oneself immediately after cosmetic surgery.

A Good Candidate

A good candidate for this operation is someone who is actually overweight and is basically in good health, outside of the excess weight. Heart conditions can hamper the operation since these are erratic conditions that may react to the operation, the medication and other things that are done to the patient. Smokers are also advised to quit smoking for several months before liposuction or any other major form of surgery. Substances in cigarettes can affect healing rate and other aspects of the body.

Limitations

As with all other thingsFree Reprint Articles, too much of a good thing just may turn out bad. Taking out too much fat from the body can result to a hazardous state. The body can go into shock due to excessive extraction of fat since this is one of the primary needs of the body to function. The patient may be surprised with the limited amount of extraction per liposuction session and the doctor should explain the importance of getting just the right amount to be safe. There is also a limit to the sessions that a person may have in as many weeks. Some patients develop a dependence eon cosmetic surgery to have confidence. This so called addiction is not easy to detect and may go unnoticed.
