Plastic Surgery’s Popularity With MenAn ever increasing number of men are realizing what a lot of women and their male friends are trying out and discovering about themselves, through the process of plastic surgery. Research completed by the American Society for Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) shows that plastic surgery for men is on a significant rise. But the question remains, are men following through with these procedures for the same reasons as women? Or are they naturally following the progressive trends of a shifting pattern from the women who have had their minimally invasive and in-patient surgeries for decades? Or are they following in the footsteps of the women in their lives because they just want to look as good as they do? Whatever the answer, many men are beginning to understand the useful benefits of topical, injectable, and surgical procedures to boost one’s confidence. There is no reason to look older than you feel or are just because you have grandchildren or have reached typical retirement age. More men are discovering that there comes a time to act against time in order to look and feel as good as possible. There are certain definite changes that the human body goes through as it ages, whether you are male or female. The metabolism slows along with collagen production and DNA reproduction within each cell. This leads to the dull skin, tired eyes, and weight retention over one’s lifetime. So according to the ASPS’s research and statistics there aren’t just an increasing number of males participating in plastic surgery for dermabrasion and Botox. Over the past five years there have been an increase in older gentlemen making appointments to go under anesthesia for the dramatic difference of face lifts, ear surgery, liposuction, and breast reduction for the optimum benefit to aesthetic change. The boost to self-assurance, career, and personal relationships will continue to grow for both men and women as procedures and techniques improve for all. Plastic surgery for men encompasses the same cosmetic concerns that most women want to change. On the one hand, many women pursue topical and minimally invasive skin resurfacing, laser treatment for leg veins, and breast augmentation to offset the appearance of stress and gravity on their bodies that starts in one’s thirties. On the other hand, many men are pursuing ear surgery, breast reduction , and laser hair removal because of what time and gravity does to the male body slowly but surely through the forties and beyond. Men don’t want to ‘let themselves go’ either. No one wants to look into the mirror each day and have a list of complaints. Men and women want to feel attractive in their own skin as well as in the eyes of their partners. Confidence affects the comfort and ease of interactions with one’s partner.
